We recently completed a made-to-measure shutter installation in Lowdham, Nottinghamshire — a bright bedroom where a roller blind was doing a job, but not as neatly as the homeowners wanted.
The brief
The room has a three-pane casement looking onto the garden, sage-green walls and a radiator under the sill. The existing white roller blind gave basic shading, but it left the recess looking unfinished and offered limited control — either mostly up or mostly down, with little in between for daytime privacy.
The homeowners wanted a fitted look that still let the garden light in, with the option to close the lower half for privacy while keeping the top open. Full-height plantation shutters with independent upper and lower louvre control were the right answer.

Three white shutter panels were fitted neatly inside the recess, aligned with the window frames. The louvres can be tilted independently above and below the mid-rail — so the garden stays visible at the top while the lower section closes for privacy.
